What are we all about?
A.I.D.T was started after Amelia was diagnosed with Faecal Impaction and Obstructive Sleep Aponea, these conditions may seem like just an illness to other people, but it leaves children in extreme pain and makes them sick constantly. Ultimately these children miss out on many normal things like going to school, playing out, making friends. All of these simple things that healthy people take for granted.
Talking to other parents at Amelia’s school I realised that other children are suffering. When I saw these children go into hospital to receive treatment, I felt that I had to put something together in order to prevent the pain and sacrifices made by both the children and their parents.
The amazing Amelia is the inspiration behind this brilliant trust. This trust was set up in order to raise the awareness of the struggles undertaken by families that are affected by invisible disabilities on a daily basis. However, the aim of this trust is not simply to raise awareness, but to raise money.
During one of Amelia’s visits to hospital, she underwent treatment that should have only taken three days. This treatment lasted a painful 24 hours longer than predicted, simply due to the out-dated machines used by hospitals nationwide. All the money that is raised for this trust will go towards new equipment for children’s hospitals, information pack for parents and fun packs for children who are undergoing treatment.
